Good writing gives people an advantage in almost all careers because it helps people communicate their work or opinions in a clear and consistent manner. People who do not have this ability may not be able to show and present their work as well as others. In my job, having good writing can help show other scientists what I have accomplished so that I can have feedback or be recognized for what I've done. Without good writing skills, we would fall behind in competition with those who do have better writing.
